My D300 Ships This Week!
« on: November 20, 2007, 02:49:10 pm »

After several months of conversation with Brad Berger on the D300's anticipated release, today I received 'the call' to confirm my order with a credit card payment to secure a first shipment delivery of the D300 body.

May I suggest you call them at once at (800) 542-8811 with card in hand and make your purchase TODAY. They have a certain number coming in (I don't know how many) and if they don't get all the pre-orders filled you might get one in a fluke.

Probably missing something here, but why is there a list of cameras, lenses and tripods at the bottom of your post?

It's quite common on forums (especially computer forums) for people to list their equipment in their signatures. Don't really know why though.

They are likely pre-order customers who, like me, have paid up to receive a body at the earliest opportunity. There may be available bodies in some locations where demand is lower but that's an advantage I certainly didn't have.

As a former D200 owner, I am anxious to start shooting with this new model. Saving sales tax (9.25% in Knoxville, Tennessee) is worthwhile too...

Nope, not a pre-order.  I just called yesterday and the store said the D300's would arrive today around 1:00 pm.  I went by today and they had arrived.  Actually, they had a large number in stock.
Earlier last month, I tried getting on the list a B & H and they said they already had too many currently waiting to add names. I don't qiute get Nikon's marketing plan here.
BTW, the D300 is great.  I have geen playing with the 'Live View" and some of the other new features.  Very fast camera - and you will notice that if you have been using a D200 like I have.  There are some new HDR features that I have not figured out as of yet - maybe its just for JPGs.
Anyway, best of luck with your camera .
