My educated guess is that all the delays comes from that whole autofocus problem they've been dealing with on the 3rd gen. 1 series. As they've yet to announce a competent fix I don't forsee the 1DsIII being shipped before '08.
Missing the Christmas season but how many people were expecting to see this thing under the tree anyway

I was informed that the auto-focus problem on the 1DIII is understood and that Canon has issued a repair program for all the affected serial numbers. As for the 1DSIII, check the [a href=\"http://www.northlight-images.co.uk/Canon_1DS_MkIII.html]NorthLight Images[/url] website and you will see the Canon announcement of a formal launch party for the 1dSIII in London England on December 5th. The launch parties, I am told, usually happen several days after the camera is actually released. This would seem consistent with other posters being informed the cameras will ship November 29th, and a translation on the NorthLights website from the Japanese version of a Canon announcement also talking about the 29th in limited quantities. Hence the available evidence would seem to suggest some people will have cameras within the early period of December. There's hope.

My dealer told me to day that Canon will ship the cameras on the 29th. They will be in Germany on the 3rd of Dezember. They will get around 2-5 cameras on the first shipment.

When you say 2-5 cameras you mean just for your local dealer?

Would you care to tell us what this all means? My Japanese is "a bit rusty" (i.e. it never existed to get rusty   )

It is said in
http://www.northlight-images.co.uk/Canon_1DS_MkIII.html
that first Cameras will be available at Park Cameras Uk any moment now, maybe tomorrow, so good news for those who placed their pre-order on that shop long time ago...
My supplier on the other hand has no news whatsoever...
