I ran into a Calument dealer from Chicago on a Flight in CA and he said they shipments were delayed and likely coming either last day in Nov or first week in Dec but that they would trickle in.

Any news anyone? I have ordered mine from a local store who imports directly from Japan, but has no clue of arrival date yet. I hope it will not be after Xmas cause I ll be doomed, and I ll have to rent out a P25, which will cost a fortune...

Supposedly the first few cameras, and it is very few, will be shipped on the 29th. Canon have said that there will definitely be initial shortages.

Well, if you live in Canada (and perhaps even if you don't), you can email Santa at this address: [a href=\"http://www.canadapost.ca/personal/dec/santa/writesanta/emailform-e.asp]Email Santa[/url], where you will see the form that starts with "Child's Name", then goes on to "Email Address" and finally "Dear Santa...write your message here". Canada Post says that every letter gets answered (they have 11,000 volunteers working at it). Soooooooo.........if everyone wanting their 1DsMKIII's before XMas writes Santa, and then Santa forwards all these letters to Canon......who knows, whoever said miracles can't happen?

A more effective thing to do:-)  if you live in Canada is to fill-up a Nikon Canada Customer Certification Form http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/content_p...cid=7-8745-9167

I have real objections to that kind of discriminatory targeting from manufacturers and their representatives. It should be a retailer's decision and the retailer should sell them on the basis of first-come, first-served - in the order of the deposits received. Epson tried to pull this with the release of the 4000 printer several years ago here in Toronto - even targeting the dealers who would get first call on the machines, and they got embroiled in a messy commercial issue as a result of it.

Let me add that if Ted Nakamura tries to pull off that kind of stunt with the 1DsIII I predict he'll have a huge commercial and legal issue on his hands as well. It will be interesting to see what local consumers do to Nikon when they learn of this.

MarkDs,
I think that's going to happen. Since I live in Greece and stores here don't deal with big numbers on sales so suppliers sometimes live them behind... same thing happened few years back with fuji S2 where sales had started in the US and it came here four months later. Couldn't wait for that back then so I changed to Canon and sold all my Nikon and Sigma Nikon mount lenses, that's how pissed off I was  .  Can't do the same now though, I m well stuck with Canon, so lets hope it will not be this bad. I don't want to be in the position where I ll be reading all about you guys having the camera in your hands and meshing with it, while I ll be sitting here waiting for mine months later  , plus all the cost for renting equipment till then. No no I don't want the last one...

I know from my dealer, that Canon is shipping the stuff on 29th, but they couldn't promise me if I would get one. Just as information I'm on the waiting list on position 3 so they thing they will get less than three cameras. It is one of the biggest Canon stores in Germany.

That's just not good at all is it? That means I have no possibility to get one... since I am 5th on a list of a local small store who imports from Japan and Germany and I am in Greece where the market is much smaller than Germany...

My memory isn't 100% - but my recollection was that the Canon USA site actually (at one point) said November delivery.  In any event, ther doesn't appear to be any reference to a November delivery now....

I've got one on order from a UK dealer who sources from Hong Kong (may sound a bit quirky but I've dealt with them for years), his Hong Kong supplier has been notified to expect six cameras on the 30th November.

The major Canon resaler in Greece says first arrival is set for mid December and is going to be 6 Cameras. Normal availability will be on late January!!! for Greece... how does that sound. I hope my dealer (who imports from Japan and Germany) will have better news for me,

The message I received was from a German dealer. They insisted on "very limited supply"…
