LR 1.3 Problem
« on: November 17, 2007, 06:33:23 pm »

Just updated to 1.3 and now when I go to Edit in Photoshop, LR says it cannot find Photoshop.  (Photo/Edit in Photoshop is greyed out)
Can't find a preference setting to fix this. In fact, on the preferences tab for external editing, it says cannot find Adobe Photoshop.
No other upgrades or updates were installed....just LR 1.3
Any help? How do I "help" LR find Adobe PS again?

LR 1.3 Problem
« Reply #1 on: November 17, 2007, 07:54:24 pm »

More info: I just tried Canon DPP and now it too is having problems interfacing to Photoshop. When I click on TOOLS/TRANSFER TO PHOTOSHOP, Photoshop does open but the image does not come over into Photoshop.  The Lightroom 1.3 Update is the only change made to my system so it has to have done something to my system. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I would also do the upgrade for PS3, since it doesn't work now you really have nothing to loose. It just may cure the problem.

Here is what worked for me:

http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewConten...01629&sliceId=1

Solution 2 (involves editing the registry, use at your own risk; however, not very difficult).

I just checked mine.  I installed the 1.3 update the night it came out.  I've dled the ACR/PS/Bridge updates but haven't installed yet.

When I asked for the round trip to PS, it opened as usual.  I have mine set up to do as .tif, stack with original.  Have you checked your preferences to see if the preferences are still set up the way you intend.  I can't think of anything else that could be amiss.

I just tried the transfer from DPP to PS3 also--worked as well for me as before.  I'm going to upgrade my PS/Bridge/ACR this evening.

I really like that if use up and down key in "black" and "fill light" they take smaller jumps now like 1 step instead of 5. That really helped me alot. Dont know if that was already changed in 1.2, didnt download that update.

Otherwise it have worked flawless under the 5 hours I worked with it yesterday on my Macbook mac os 10.4.

Cheers,

LR 1.3 Problem

John H, thank you - I reinstalled PS and now LR/PS is OK; however, since reinstalling PS worked I thought I'd uninstall DPP and reinstall it to see if I could resolve its problem since updating to LR 1.3. Unfortunately, I am now without DPP and can't re-install it. I am getting a cryptic InstallShield error 1647: Unable to create InstallDriver instance. Return Code: -2147312566. YIKES!
I've tried the troubleshooting routines on the Canon original disc to no avail.  I'm  now surfing for other solutions and also have sent Canon help desk an email.  But thanks so much for the LR/PS fix! Can't believe this has all happened as a result of the LR 1.3 update. My computer has been rock solid and stable for years - this is very surprising to me. I always wondered what those other people must be doing to get into so much trouble installing a simple update!

I wonder if its something else--but this is not my forte'.  I have both PP, PSCS3 (and PSC2), LR and other RCs on my HD.  I installed the LR 1.2 update without incident also.  My OS is XP Pro (now I can't remember what yours is--or if you are on Mac, but I don't think so).  I installed the PSCS3/Bridge and ACR update this morning--again without incident.  One wonders what it is that causes multitudes of problems for some with similar setup and not for others (just wondering out loud here).

I also wonder if you are having reinstall problems with DPP because you no longer have a version on your HD--to install DPP you have to have DPP or ZB on the system--so this may be related to the fact that you deleted it.  Hopefully someone can give more helpful info than me, but I had no repercussions from installing the LR update--nor the one before it with PS nor DPP--just wanted to be sure that you knew others were having no problems.
