Yeah, brilliant, fantastic, way to go Michael.... except....
At the risk of not sounding absolutely sycophantic, I was mildly disappointed with the review.
- no comment on the new improved viewfinder
- too bad he didn't try seeing how the manual focus works with liveview
- little detail on how the 14 bit A/D conversion actually adds to greater tonal range in images and what this is like to work with in Lightroom
- nothing much on how the new metering systems performed in the field (with the exception that they can be said to be "reliable")
- nothing really on how the various lenses in Michael's kit worked in the field with this new camera and whether some of them were challenged in resolving what the sensor could record
- and most disappointingly, nothing yet on how actual real world prints turned out, as compared to prints from the Mark II, 5D, MF backs, etc.
Yes, I know Michael said is working on those aspects but couldn't we have at least some more qualitative and descriptive comments based on your extensive experience with those other cameras? I'm not suggesting he should have done a technical review- he was clear that the intent was a hands-on field report. But a little more feedback on the stuff you had your hands on would have been nice.
You know we can't wait....
