DVI or VGA
« on: November 02, 2007, 05:33:26 am »

My wide screen Monitor has VGA D-sub input and DVI. My Dell has a video card that supports both VGA and DVI. Is there any advantage using DVI over VGA. I can't see any difference at normal resolutions (1280 x 800 and 1680 x 1050) I've not gone to the full wide screen of 1920 x 1200 as text and other icons are too difficult to read easily. I mainly use Lightroom and Photoshop on this machine.

Any views ?

Thanks

You should run the screen at it's native resolution, otherwise you will get a very soft image (it will be interpolated by your screen).
If you think the text is difficult to read then you can change it's size and make it bigger. This way you will have the best of both worlds!

Use DVI, depending on your cable you will be able to get a pure digital signal from your computer to your monitor which will give better picture quality.
If the cable is a DVI-I (intergrated) it will support both analog and digital signals.

For more detailed information on how to check what cable you have look here:
