Anybody know how to disable the AF -assist illuminator ?

I left the manual at home and cannot locate the AFDII manual online.

Tried. Doesn't do it.
I can get to CF28, but cannot toggle it.

Rear dial works on mine.

Is your rear dial working normally, like on manual mode?

Perhaps check C14 (Subrear dial function is set On), thought this shouldn't make a lot of difference. Next is pull the batteries out. (Straws, grasping!)

Edmund, I think you also have to press the little button right above the rear dial while you turn the rear dial. I don't remember what the little button is labeled.

I've tried all the buttons - whichever it is it's not obvious - to me

if you really can't work that out I think the old method is the best... black tape... at least you can keep shooting in toute discretion.

Good suggestion. BTW, with the help of the link posted by Steve Townsend I figured out that you need to choose a user with the back wheel BEFORE you select a custom function with the front wheel. Then the back wheel becomes enabled. Obvious, no ?

Right enough, I'm using set A... have never used the default set. Sorry I didn't spot that earlier!
