Mamiya 645 on Canon or Nikon?
« on: October 28, 2007, 06:08:03 am »

What happens when using a Mamia 645 with adapter on Canon or Nikon?

Manual focus and stepped down metering, and...

1. Aperture is the percentage of lens opening, but opening is larger than a 135 system lens so lets in more light? Thus is there an equivalent aperture multiplier?

2. How much is it possible to close down lens and still meter, approx what aperture?

Thanks

Considering metering dont work anyway I dont really know but I reckon Mamiya 80 @ 2.8 is the same as an nikkor at 80 @ 2.8 - the bigger opening is about the size of the image circle

The attached image is one of a series done with a Nikon/Kodak SLRn with a mamiya maual 80 attachted to the front with gaffa tape

hate to say this but how and the heck can some one judge a shot that small and on the web?
Can you post it bigger?
Some times I wonder how people can make so many judgments from pictures posted on the web, Not this oneonly but about half the post..:+}  unless they  have a down load link to a full size image.
Just wondering really, but it does baffle me!

F2.8 etc is F2.8 etc, whatever lens you use so no changes there.

The metering should work very closely to your normal nikon or canon lenses at any of the apertures but you can of course do simple comparisons to test for any discrepancies..you just open up to focus in the bright and then stop down to meter and expose.

Shift lenses are different and once you apply any shift you really should use a handheld meter, or meter in camera before applying shift.or do both and then use histogram also..with all the options available you really can not get it wrong!
