New Beta?
« on: October 18, 2007, 05:59:23 pm »

Upon reading Micheals review of the Canon MkdsIII, he mentioned this:
"The Canon files were processed in a beta version of Adobe Lightroom which I was testing. Is there something new on the horizon? A new update or version?

There's obviously going to be a new release of LR and ACR for the 1Ds mkIII, Nikon D300 and Nikon D3.

The real question is: is it going to be a simple realease that will just add the support for these cameras (like LR 1.2) or are we going to have improvements (like LR 1.1)... Time will tell...

It would seem that the answer to your question is "yes."

I look forward to seeing third party noise reduction (noiseware) and sharpeners (photokit) to coexist within lightroom. But that will mean they won't modify the actual RAW file on the fly, like they do on Photoshop, but instead the metadata. That would be really cool.

I also would like to see soft proofing.

But they are just wishes. Hopefully we'll see one of those soon.

DxO announced a 'plugin' of sorts for Lightroom last June.  It's not really a plugin though, in that the image can be ported from Lightroom to DxO and back, rather like doing a roundtrip 'edit' in Photoshop.

More will come...

Lets hope they test this one better judging by the number of problems reported with it!   Wayne
