I'm surprised there hasn't been any mention pf Michael Reichman's new toy, the 1DsmkIII he's been shooting with. Or have I missed it.

Thank you Francois, I was surprised it had not been mentioned and Michael not quizzed on it.
It will be good to see something other than those awfull  jpg samples around at present.

I wouldn't expect any full size files to be available here.

I don't recall that he's ever posted full size certainly not for the 1ds2 review (and you would/should want raw, not jpg), in any event, using pre production firmware Canon generally doesn't allow publication of full size images.

There's a different explanation for the posts on the Japanese sites - basically that dealers with a demo model "accidentally" let them slip out of the shop occasionally.  Here in Toronto, at a recent imaging show, they had a 1ds3 to hold, but putting a card in it was verboten.

But asking nicely never hurts

Perhaps not full size samples, but 100% crops are a common occurance in his reviews.

As long as we have some both in the center and in the corners + middle of the short and long sides of images, that's good enough for me.

Since the investement is significant, I hope that we'll have a detailed comparison vs the 1ds2 in order to get an idea of the progress in terms of image quality, if any. Michael has seemingly already sold his own 1ds2, but it shouldn't be too hard to find one for his review. I really hope he does that.

There are certainly good reasons to buy a 1ds3 regardless of the image quality, but image quality IS important and it is important to see the progress made, especially with wide angles of course.

Regards,
Bernard

Yes, but, as far as I can see, not when Canon has supplied pre-production firmware.
