eye-one photo or photo lt ?
« on: October 15, 2007, 03:06:47 pm »

Currently using spyder for display color mgmt only.  I'm planning on giving the spyder away to a friend.  I'm looking for a solution that includes profiling my scanner and printers.

Anyone have experience with the difference in quality of *printer profiles* between the eye-one photo ( http://www.xrite.com/product_overview.aspx?ID=834 } vs: photo-lt ( http://www.xrite.com/product_overview.aspx?ID=861 }solutions?  Difference in price is fairly significant

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like the difference is software.  The LT version can be "upgraded" to the full version, which implies the actual hardware is the same, at least the spectrophotometer.

From what I can read, the LT version limits the number of patches on your test charts to less than the full version ... note the phrase "small test chart technology".  Previous products have included this technology, most feeling the results weren't as good as reading larger test charts.

I would verify the upgrade price, if everything is the same except hardware, and the the LT version plus upgrade equals the price of the full system (all other parts being equal as well which I can't tell) no reason not to try the LT version to start with.
