Death Valley, Southern Utah, the Wave shooting
« on: October 12, 2007, 09:59:53 pm »

Is anyone else going to be in the Death Valley area the last week of October .... or Southern Utah and extreme northern Arizona first 2 weeks of November? I'm only going to venture a few miles into Arizona. I'm planning to shoot in Zion, Escalante, Capitol Reef, Canyonlands, Paria Canyon, and some of the slot canyons, as well as The Wave (yes, I have a day permit).

Oh, does anyone have suggestions any slot canyons that are as beautiful (or more beautiful) than Antelope Canyon? I found a website tonight that said that there are slot canyons every bit as beautiful as Antelope Canyon .... without the tourists.

For a website of slot canyons you might try John Crossley's www.americansouthwest.net/sitemap_sc.html .
A personal favorite not that far from Page is Water Holes canyon.

The very best guide to the backcountry of the Colorado Plateau is Michael Kelsey's Canyon Hiking Guide to the Colorado Plateau, 5th Edition. Kelsey has hiked and written about more canyons than one can imagine.
