B & W Printer A3+ Which one?

I need to do some Black and White prints, any old chemical monochrome printers out there that are achieving comparable quality with inkjet. If yes which printer and configuration are you using and are you printing from camera files or scanned negs?
Do I need a printer set up only for mono or do the latest printers switch happily from one t' other without fuss or exspense?
Thanks,
Kevin.

For A3 prints, my Epson R2400 does a great job from scanned slides converted to mono in Photoshop.

You may want to consider an Epson 3800.
If you were to buy a 2400 and the same quantity of ink you get with the 3800, you'd actually pay more than buying a 3800.
Plus, if you have the 3800, you can make bigger prints.
