Epson 3800 Read Feeder Problem
« on: October 03, 2007, 06:03:52 pm »

Printing an 8.5 X 11 in the rear feeder is coming out not centered.  The picture is too close to the edge fed into the rear feed.  Printing the same photo from the front feed comes out correctly.  What  am I doing wrong?  Thanks.  (btw printing from Lightroom - correct paper selected)

Three questions:

1. Which Media Type do you have selected in the driver?

2. Do you have Paper Size Check enabled or disabled in the printer panel?

3. Did you make sure to select the correct paper size in the driver?

Normally, this printer centers paper very, very well. In fact, I suspect it uses optical sensing of the paper edge. However, you must make sure that you select the correct *printer* (e.g., Epson 3800) and paper size. On my system (Photoshop in OS-X), if somehow I have a generic printer selected, it will print fine anyway but there will be a minor error in centering when using the rear feeder.

Good luck.

1. I had Premium Semi Gloss in the driver selected.
2. Good question.  I'll check that, but again printing from the front tray worked, printing from the read single feed didn't.
3. Correct paper size selected in the driver.

The printer is coming back from repair for another issue, so I'll try again on Tuesday.

Got the printer back.  The main board had to be replaced.  Working perfectly now.  My rear feed problem was solved by select "scale to fit" in the print driver.
