There is currently a Sinarback 54 H Firewire (22 MPx Multishot) on sale on eBay. I would like to give some precisions about it.
We did some research at Sinar and found following out:
- This SB 54 H has Serial Number 26.2094
- It was delivered in March 2007 to a customer in the UK (via our distributor)
- The back was wrongly mounted to a Rollei camera on which the customer did not take away the film frame, thus most probably damaging or scratching the IR filter, possibly even the position of the sensor or even damaging the piezo plate
- Our distributor has then sent this SB 54 H back to Sinar factory and the courier service lost the package on the way
- The insurance paid the lost
- The SB 54 H was then found back a few month later and legally sold for £ 300.- during an auction to the person who has put it now online on eBay.
- The name and contacts of our technician at Sinar are mentioned.
- There is basically nothing wrong to buy this SB 54 H, but a possible buyer has to be aware that the repair costs of the possible damage described above will amount to about CHF 3'000.- to CHF 4'000.- ex-factory.
