iPF5000 Wiki to Cover iPF5100/6100
« on: September 21, 2007, 09:42:41 pm »

As the iPF5000 clearance sale seems to be winding down (apparently not many are left) and the iPF5100 is starting to ship, we will be adding coverage of the new models to the FAQ as information becomes available.  Much of the iPF5000 FAQ will probably still be relevant, but as we discover differences they will be integrated into the answers for the iPF5000 FAQ, or placed in a separate section if appropriate.

The fledgling FAQ specific to the iPF5100 has only two topics, listed at the top of this page:

http://canonipf5000.wikispaces.com/FAQ

The only one of real interest is the differences between the iPF5100 and iPF5000.  All that is known is listed here:

http://canonipf5000.wikispaces.com/iPF5100+vs+iPF5000

Some of this information is not confirmed, but is extrapolated from information on the iPF6100 from various sources.  We are seeking confirmation of the items in doubt.  Please send me a PM or drop by the Wiki to comment about any errors or additional bits of information you have to contribute.

Thanks.

Many thanks for your continuing good work John. I was hoping the 5100 would be 'wikified'.

If anyone wants to send me a free iPF5100, I will be glad to study it and update the Wiki

I have added several FAQ to the Wiki and completed a thorough reorganization.  One of the more interesting topics is how to access the service menu and the kind of detailed information you can get about ink used for cleanings and the exact amount of ink used total for each color:

http://canonipf5000.wikispaces.com/Service+Mode

The different types of cleanings (gleaned from the Service Manual) are the topic of another FAQ:

http://canonipf5000.wikispaces.com/Cleaning+Cycle+Timing

The other added FAQ are mentioned in the Wiki discussion forum so you can peruse them if you like:

A special thanks to Scott Martin of Onsight for some very valuable contributions regarding the iPF6100/5100 series printers!
