1Ds Mark III in CPSX Toronto
« on: September 21, 2007, 06:17:47 pm »

Hi there,

I tried out the 1Ds mk III at the CPSX event yesterday.  Feels good in the hand, a hell of a lot easier to use than the previous 1D models, lighter, faster.  I felt that the silent shutter mode wasn't as quiet as that of say, the 40D, or even the 1D mkIII.  Maybe it's the mirror?

Live view was really cool.  For instance I could see the difference in corner softness wide open between the 16-35 f/2.8 II and my old 17-40.  I could see the live view with wireless opening up tons of possibilities with remote shooting, PW to shoot with real-time viewing and manual focusing with wifi feedback.  Perfect live view focusing for astrophotographic applications.

For people who have used this camera in the field, or even tried it at the expo, what were your impressions from handling the new camera?
