P45+ Glitch?
« on: September 18, 2007, 07:52:46 pm »

Working on a shoot yesterday, P45+ Hassy H2  tethered to Mac Pro Quad 8 Gb ram, as the day progressed the camera became slower, at times snails pace, then after about 150 captures it would disconnect from the computer after 10 shot sequence, did all the usual, replaced battery, cable, emptied cache, problem continued until (thankfully at the end) it gave up the ghost.

The techie hired to run the capture end was not a rookie, that is why he was on the job.

One of the assistants mentioned this had happed last week on a job he was working on, same scenario.  Any comments out there?

It seems like the problem could be the Mac's firewire port. One of my mac's fw ports gave up a couple of weeks ago...

That's a no go, the same set up with a P45 and P32, not a glitch all day!

There are many issues with the Plus backs, 3.7.7 and Intel machines.  Phase has acknowledged this as supposedly [a href=\"http://forum.phaseone.com/viewtopic.php?t=3977]3.7.8 will be released "shortly"[/url]

For now, we are using our Quad G5s when I a client requests a Plus back.  We are not having the same problems with the non-Intel machines.

3.7.6 is stable and strong, but cannot be used with the Plus backs.

One maini ssue to check on when running the Plus backs is that you need to manual set the raw format to IIQ-Large in the software when shooting tethered.  There is a glitch in 3.7.7 that defaults to the old RAW 3.0 format when shooting tethered.  Shooting in this mode will certainly give you very slow performance and even crashing.
