mamiya zd fix
« on: September 11, 2007, 06:48:06 am »

I have been using mamiya zd for 18 months.
lately I have encountered 2 problems:
1. the sensor has become extremely dirty. using air or sensor swabs does not help.
it looks like the dust has sunk into the sensor's coating.
2. some times, sporadically, the mirror would jump up and I have to press mirror up
    button to continue shooting.

please advise

thank you

I noticed that jumping up of the mirror too. Until now, I tougth, I might have been pushing the mlu-button by accident.

that problem with the sensor sounds bad. I havent noticed that yet - but have only benn using the ZD since 10 months. since you should still be under warranty, I would take the zd to mamiya, if thats possible.
how do you usualy clean the sensor?

My agent told me the sensor is $$$$. They advised to bring to them for cleaning.

Yes, the mirror in my ZD also gets stuck right after I shoot a frame. This has happened irregularly from new and hope it dose not end up causing a problem.

Hi
You should have your camera checked @L&P. I spent 8 days shooting APEC last week & had no problems. I have had a problem with 2 of my 4 gig cards that are made by DANE-ELEC with the ZD. I have not lost shots but I think it was started by A Lexar FW card reader that cooked a few of my CF cards. That reader was returned & replaced by Lexar. The Sandisk cards I have have given me no problems. Extreme III & IV.
The challenge I had was the card started @ 113 then as I shot down to lets say 70, the card would go back to 113 so I took it out & all the shots were there. Weird, but it only has happened with the DANE-ELEC cards.
Thanks Denis

Yes, I have been meaning to get the camera in for a check and to get the firmware upgraded but L&P informed I will need to loose the camera for 2 weeks and I am are to do this at the moment.

I have not had an issue with memory cards although find it interesting that you have been able to handhold the camera at such low shutter speeds, I have not had the same success and shoot 99% of zd images securely to a tripod.

My friend
you were right
I took out the IR filter and it was dirty
I tried to operate the camera without it and it refuses.
Do I have to insert the filter back?

on switching the camera on, there is a warning message Fil Err

thanks for your help

Hi
Without a filter the camera won't operate. Look at the instructions. Put the filter back in.
