Is it just me?
« on: September 08, 2007, 11:56:12 am »

Is it just me. I always seem to need stuff that is either hard to find or doesn't exist.

I am looking for either a 3.5mm to 3.5mm sync cable (5Meters) or/and a 3.5mm to PC Female cable (short, 30cm or so). I just don't seem to be able to find a place where I can buy these (not on Ebay, not the big US stores either). Does anybody know one?

I have one 3.5mm to PC female but I would like to have a spare.

When we are at that anyway. Has anybody ever seen a short female to female pc cable?

Sure I can make them by myself but I much rather buy one somewhere else (otherwise I would start to feel obliged to take solder stuff as well).

I have had custom cables made up by Paramount. I had a Phase One Cable made by them with a tip for early type compur Hasselblad lenses. They have a configurator on their website. You can pick cable ends and type of cord. Cost is very reasonable and the cord came just like a new factory cord would.

Dustbak,

Broncolor used to make one so you might want to contact them.    It allows you to hard wire 2 Broncolor Grafit packs together.    Contact them at www.bron.ch.

Also another alternative is looking at AV and Audio Suppliers.   The 3.5mm jack is a standard Miniphone.   You should easily be able to find a miniphone to miniphone extension of various lengths.

I have never seen one with a PC  female end to it though.    But even there contact Paramount Sync Cords since I do know that they will custom make a cord for you.   They are located on the web at [a href=\"http://www.paramountcords.com/custom.asp]http://www.paramountcords.com/custom.asp[/url]

You can use 2 normal sync cables and a tripple nipple ( Hama 6963 flash conector 3 way ) to join the sync ends or better yet by some two core cable and solder your own 3.5 mono headphone jacks. I make at least one of these cables a week for clients, I've had to add a butane solder iron to my standard kit.

A good reminder that real world photography is about a lot more than pixel counts. I'm in the process of upgrading from a P25 to a P45+, but there would probably be a bigger improvement in my photography if I could find a taller, lighter, more portable, and more rigid step-ladder!

Gary,

Look at the ladders from a company called Little Giants.

They are pretty slick and very sturdy.

Gary,
I use Polder step-ladders.
VERY lightweight.
