DEVELOP MODULE: Camera Calibration Panel
« on: August 28, 2007, 01:31:56 pm »

In the Develop Module, in the Camera Calibration Panel, what are the reasons that the first line in the panel indicates Profile: ACR 3.3 instead of ACR 4.1 which is what is installed on my system?
I noticed this appeared in one of the screen shots in Ian Lyons article too. I probably need to read and study; however, this appeared counterintuitive to me on the face of it.
I am running LR 1.1, PS CS3, ACR 4.1 and camera is 5D

Yes, you do...the readout there has nothing to do with your INLSTALLED VERSION of Camera Raw, that read indicates what version of Camera Raw was used when your camera raw profiled by Thomas Knoll. In some cases, he's gone back and made adjustments and in those cases there will be choices in the dropdown. He provided the choice for the sake of backwards compatibility to people could keep a set process and that future Camera Raw updates would alter the color based on the update. Too bad people don't have a clue that's what it means...

Thanks Jeff - I did also just find a reference to that explanation in Martin's book. Thanks!
