Disappearing flag settings?
« on: August 25, 2007, 03:30:16 pm »

As a relative newbie with Lightroom, I expect I am doing something silly, but I can't for the life of me figure out what!

It goes like this:  I load my images into Lightroom straight from the memory card, in folders, organised by date.  I review each folder, and set the Picked flag for images worth doing more with.  So far so good.

I then sort images into collections based on event and subject material - these usually but not always correspond with the dated folders. I associate the images with the collections by selecting them in the grid, in the folder view, and creating a new collection, automatically adding selected images.  Later, I may drag and drop other images to the collection.

However, any image that is displayed in the collection does NOT appear to have the flag set, even though the same image in the folder does.  I'm not making physical copies of the images when I create the collections (at least, none are shown in Explorer) - am I making virtual copies, and if so, how do I stop doing it?

Any clarification would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Steve Morton.

Ratings and Labels follow the image throughout Lightroom for flags are specific to folders & collections...meaning they are local to thefolder or collection. Use ratings if you want to have the indication follow the image everywhere...
