645 MFD 'no longer a priority for Pentax'

The Pentax 645 digital project might have been abandoned, or at least "shelved". According to this article in the website of UK magazine Amateur Photographer,

"Hiroshi Onoda, European general manager for Imaging Systems, told AP's technical editor Angela Nicholson: 'The medium format digital SLR is no longer a priority for Pentax.'"

It was announced several months ago that it had been canceled.

No, that was falsely rumored during the Hoya take-over battle, but it was never in fact announced. Even todays news is not quite a cancellation announcement.

Thanks for the clarification. Given the rumors, and the fact that it still doesn't exist, you have to wonder how smart it would be to buy one if it ever comes out. I'd certainly worry about how much support it would get, how much money they're willing to invest in it, etc.
