Epson 3800 won't print 16"" wide
« on: August 24, 2007, 04:53:38 pm »

I attempted to print 16 X 24 on 17 X 25 paper with my 3800 for the first time today.  Created a custom paper size, for which the preview appears OK, but the printer refuses to print the full width of the image.  First time through it managed only 11.5 inches... stopped the print job, flipped the sheet around, and second time through it printed about 14 inches of the image (cropped off the top of the landscape image).  All the settings I can see appear correct.  I am at a loss... anyone have an idea what I'm doing wrong?

I'm printing from PS CS3 under Windows XP Pro (SP2).

Thanks in advance

I don't, but I am printing 16 x 24 regularly on 17 x 25 paper.  Maybe if you give all the particulars--which feed, what you are printing from (i.e., PS, LR, Qimage, etc.) and anything else.  I would cancel all print jobs for one thing (Oh, and is this Mac or PC--might make a difference, I don't know).

I'm sure someone can help.  I'm assuming from what you said that you created a 17 x 25 paper size and your image is 16" x 24", etc.  I really didn't understand what you meant by 'flipped the sheet around' though.

>>I really didn't understand what you meant by 'flipped the sheet around' though.<<

Diane,

I killed the print job as soon as I saw what was happening.  Rather than waste another sheet, I simply fed the opposite edge through the printer, after checking the settings.  Basically just rotated the sheet 180 degrees and re-fed it through the printer.

Sorry for omitting details on OS etc.  I have added them above to the original post.

best.

So--if I understand this correctly--its not printing from side to side the full 16"??

OK... figured it out.  Turn off the "Paper Size Check" in the printer menus.  Now it works fine.

Hi, can you mention what 17x25 paper you are using. I have only found 17x22 for the Epson 3800 although I admit I have only just started my search.

To others - - I am trying to find the glossiest paper possible (good weight, shiny surface) for fine art exhibition purposes that will allow me to work as large on the 3800 as possible (17x25 seems to be standard). But I'd also be interested to print to the 37" length & cut down the paper if need be. Thanks, Daryl-Ann

The Harman Gloss Baryta comes in 17 x 25 and you can buy rolls of 17" luster, glossy, semigloss and cut the 37.4" (actually I cut 40" and printed 36.4")

There are a number of 17 x 25--Red River, Hawks Mt., Inkjetart.com
