Problem with Epson P2000
« on: August 21, 2007, 11:13:13 pm »

I've owned an Epson P2000 for 2-3 years and was very happy with it. My primary camera was a KM 7D and the storage of RAW files was no problem. I just got a Sony A100 and attempted to store my first shoot of RAW & JPEGs. Only the JPEGs got stored. Apparently it's not able to read Sony's RAW format. Is there a work-around download to update the firmware?

Have you tried Epson's website for firmware updates?

Is it not copying the Sony RAW files at all, or is just unable to display the files ?
There's an important difference there.

It's not copying the RAW files. Epson's site doesn't show it supports Sony RAW. Yet the P-3000 does.

Just to close the loop on this thread: I got through to Epson and they helped me to reset the P-2000 so it stores .arw files but it shows them as an ikoned square rather than as a thumbnail. They have no plans to update the P-2000 so it can read .arw files. Interestingly, the P-3000 supports these files and can read them but the techies warned against using this software in the older model. So will the P-3000/5000 be able to read the newly announced Canons and Nikons?
