Double falls - Glacier NP
« on: August 21, 2007, 05:34:09 pm »

I'm finally headed out to Glacier National park tomorrow, after having to cancel an earlier trip.

I've heard that Double falls (around the Logan Pass area), should not be missed and after doing some searches on the internet it appears to be a stunning location.

i'd appriate some advice on how long and where the hike is.  as well as best timing to shoot there (i.e. sunrise/sunset), and whether this is a good time of the year for the falls.

Search on glacier in this forum.  I think someone answers the question.  I plan on asking the park people when I'm there next month.

The visitor centre staff ranger told me that the falls requires walking over very delicate and sensitive alpine meadow, and, as such, is only accessible early in the season, when there is enough snow to keep hikers from damaging new plants. Also, it is actually a triple falls, which does not show up in many images.
