Well as I posted earlier I just received my Canon 400 DO lens. I picked this lens to go along with my 300 2.8 for an upcoming trip my wife and I are making next year to Alaska. By obtaining this lens I figure that the 300 will go on the 5D and the DO on the 1Ds II. I’ll be shooting landscape with my medium format and need this for nature/wildlife, especially bears and eagles. The following is my excuse of a test of the 400 just to see what it can do, like kicking the tires. This is unscientific in the extreme so take the results with a grain of salt. This test was for me but I felt like sharing.
Camera: Canon 1Ds II which is about 2 years old. I shot all the images auto exposure, aperture priority, 50 ISO, at f/8. Being lazy and not having too much time I shot everything from my backyard here in Tucson. I wanted to pick distances that we might encounter as well as to the extreme. All images were shot RAW then opened in CS3. I allowed CS3 to pick the best solution for each image (I normally like to work each manually but wanted to attempt to render each as close to one another as possible.) So here goes:
Almost forgot – all these were shot off tripod with IS on.
