Death Valley Sand Dunes
« on: August 08, 2007, 10:01:29 pm »

North of the previous picture, near Stovepipe Wells, are the famous sand dunes. We got there just before sunset and so was able to get some interesting textures because of the low angled light. Despite the number of people tramping all over the sand, it was not too difficult to find quiet areas to set up

sweeping curves | 1/125  f3.5  ISO 80

not alone | 1/160 f3.5 ISO 80

ripples | 1/80 f3.5 ISO 80

foot prints | 1/125 f3.2 ISO 80

Really like the third. They all look a little low in contrast on my monitor...?

There was no  PP except for what was done by Breezebrowser when making the proofs:
resize to 640 max
smart NR, strength = normal
unsharp mask: radius 0.5, amount 1 threshold 0
saving to JPG at quality 75

Glad you like Ripples too. I find it interesting with the texture fading to the curved distant edge.
