New EOS 1ds Mark II?
« on: August 07, 2007, 11:28:40 pm »

Does anyone have an idea whether Canon will bring out a 22 MP EOS 1ds Mark II in the near future? Any guesses on the cost?

Ive heard/read that by the very end of August and the end of September the 40d and 1Ds mk3 will be out. BUT, problems with the recently released 1Dmk3 in regards to af issues and meeting demand might have delayed the release dates a month or two. It is safe to say the 40d and the 1Ds mk3 are almost done, tweaks in firmware are probably all thats left to do.

A new 5D mk2 is highly unlikely now, its at least a year or 2 away.

I agree with kaelaria, If you're going to post about the release of a future camera, at least show proof (hell, link to a rumor page even).

Come on, this isn't a fortune cookie forum. A lot of people are waiting for a 40D, 1Ds Mark 2 or 5D mark 2...but guessing and speculations are just a waste of server-space.

lets keep it real...

Real. You mean, like the new Mamiya 7 Mk 3; perhaps like the new Leica M3 re-issue? I´ll order one of those!

What´s a fortune cookie? Something like a pinhole, perchance?

Hmm...sarcasm?

I just meant to say that the internet is filled with threads like: OMG! 1DS Mark II coming july 2, no wait, august 10th, no wait september! Definitely september! Wait...did that guy at the busstop who claimed to be the Canon CEO say September or December? Now I'm just confused.

Now don't get me wrong...of course the 5D, 40D and mark III are coming, it's been two years allready!
I just want to point out, that if anyone is going to post an exact launchdate, they should name a source. You know those things at the end of a term paper, or like, the kind journalists use.

I found this over at engadget.com; http://www.canon-eos-40d.com/
(not much of a source, but at least now you know I'm not making anything up)

Lets not forget that in 2004 Canon introduced the 1Dmk2 on January 29, the 20d on August 19 and the 1Ds mk2 on September 21. Given this was a Photokina year which this isnt. But last year during Photokina Canon only had the new Rebel nothing else..humm...

All very well, but I still don´t know what a fortune cookie is. I do know what a homecoming queen is, though, thanks to a kind gentleman on this site!

I thought I could get a non-clown response on this site but I guess I`m just an optimist.

Mike,

Since there have been no leaks, how can anyone say anything meaningful about a non-existent unannounced product?

As for guessing the price, that's all it would be, a guess.

Given that there's really nothing to say, why be surprised at humorous repartee?

If anyone is interested, I'm willing to sell my spot on Canon's wait list for the new 1Ds MkIII to the highest bidder.

Well, there is a place for humor[if that is what you want to call these responses] but it isn`t in response to someones serious question-besides,Michael Reichman already predicted it`s release this fall so I thought I might elicit an update?? Maybe you consider his comments as not meaningful since it was just his "guess"??
