Fuji GX680 180mm f3.2 lens
« on: August 03, 2007, 02:35:17 pm »

I'm considering the purchase of a 180mm f3.2 for my GX680 system- a little longer (and brighter) than my 150 f4.5, but under the reach of my 250.  Does anyone have any direct experience of the 3.2, and how it might compare to the much less expensive 5.6?  And is it as flat (planar?) as the slower lenses?
Regards,
Jed

I have F3.2. Canoot say is it Planar or not but I have to say the contrast compare to 100mm F4 is like 1 stop better with the same aperture set. Color also is kinda brighter and more saturated in the way. Short is worth the extra money, to me at least.

The 180mm 3.2 is a brilliant lens It has a look to it that is the closest I have been able to get to my Schneider 480mm 8x10 lens.

It is a good complement to the 250mm, but I have found that I ended up using my 300mm more when I added the 180mm to my kit.

Depth of field is very very shallow. Even stopped down a fair bit. The 180mm 5.6 is a nice lens too, but the extra 1 2/3 stops makes focusing much easier.

Here is a shot with the 180mm 3.2

Here is a Polaroid shot wide open:

I'm pretty sure this was wide open too.

As for the design type... the rear element is very large and convex leading me to believe it is of the planar type
