Chris, Jeff and I are very pleased to announce that our 6 hour + video tutorial, From Camera to Print is now available.

I am also announcing a major new initiative to provide financial assistance to fine art photographers, worldwide, called The Luminous Landscape Endownment. This fund will derive its seed financing from 15% of the revenues that we make from sales of the tutorial video.

I am making the announcement first here on the Forum so that forum regulars can be among the first to download this exciting new tutorial.

Michael,

I just purchased the tutorial and am in the process of downloading it via HTML and am eagerly awaiting the process to complete so I can look at the tutorial.  An FTP download would be more convenient. Is such an option available?

There doesn't appear to be any way to interface FTP to our Store, unfortunately, so HTML download is what we are stuck with.

What in the world is giving you a problem downloading via an HTML link?  Mine all transfered above 1100kbps - what more can you ask for??

Or are you just asking so you don't have to be limited to two DL at a time?

Downloading two at a time is less convenient, since you have to come back to the site after downloading two files. I'm not getting the download rate you mention: when downloading two files at a time, I get about 90 KB/sec for each file, so it takes about 40 minutes to download two files, then back to the site for the next two.]

It would be easier to use my FTP download program (WSFTP) to download them all at once while I am occupied elsewhere.

That has nothing to do with their server, or it being served by their apache.  It's your connection to them, it wouldn't matter if it was FTP, your rate would most likely be exactly the same.

Obviously, but I wouldn't have to make multiple download sessions. I could download everything at once and walk away from the computer.

I agree, in your situation of a slow connection, downloading multiple large files will be inconvenient.  If i were you I would track down your connection problem and correct it if you can.  I was done with all the files in just a few minutes.  I read a couple emails in between, no big deal.

I posted before you edited your reply.

I am half way through with downloading .... Extra part 2 has something (689 bytes) rather than Extra part 1, so I'll download extra 2, right?

Now we're all home over the weekend watching these videos

Downloading the whole 2.1GB with a slowish connection can take a while, but there's nothing to stop one from starting to watch the first three files once zip 1 has finished downloading.

Just for the record I have Verizon FIOS at 15mbps down and was able to DL all at once within 5 min. I must say the vid quality is excellent and seems to be considerably better than the LR tut. I stream my files over a network through a modded xbox onto a 38" HDTV CRT. The only comments I can make is that the audio level is a bit low as I have to turn the volume way up and one day I hope you can go to a continuous file format as opposed to breaking it up into but I understand why you canít at this point.

I have made it through the scanning portion so far and I am so excited you produced such a video. This is exactly what I have been wanting to see. There is such a great dynamic between you and Jeff which makes the video interesting as well. Hopefully when we visit the family in Toronto this fall we will have the opportunity to stop by and see your new gallery and to shake your hand if youíre available and thank you for such a valuable website and all the content you have provided so far.

Thanks.

Jeff

P.S. Sorry, can't leave it alone...when can we see the VJ in HD?!

I'm taking a breather for a few days and then it will be back at it to experiment with HD editing for the next 'episode'

Buona visione a tutti.

EDIT - nevermind, they are a 'bit' low.  I only, however, need to turn the volume up a 'bit', not 'way up'.

re: CompareImages.mov = No Sound

Windows XP user........ QuickTime v7.2

I get no sound in CompareImages.mov? It runs, but silence as if muted.
The two other mov files in the same zip, Introduction and PrinterModels, run fine, good sound.

Suggestions.

CRAP!  I would have discovered that too in about 2 min when #2 finished!

Confirmed - Chris, #3 is toast, no audio.

OK, PHEW - easy fix for those of us that already downloaded it...

Go to Window, Movie Properties, Audio Settings.

The volume is mistakenly set to -Infinity (Mute) rather than the default 0db.  Move the slider and the audio is there.

Chris, you'll still need to redo it though, obviously.

Jeff, you could also do this to raise your source volume - but of course you'd have to do it for each segment, each time.  Too bad QT doesn't save it as a setting for each file.

Yep, I have received a couple of complaints about the audio on some of the files. When I check them at my end, I find that the audio level in QT Player is set to zero. Up the volume control and the sound magically booms forth - but I could be wrong...

Let me know...
