I thought that I got a great deal when I bought my iPF5000 in December of 2006. With the upcoming release of the iPF5100, many dealers have really great bargains on the iPF5000. ITSupplies is selling the 17" pigment based (Lucia inks) iPF5000 with roll feed unit and free shipping for $899.

Wow! I love my IPF5000. Makes me wonder whether I should buy the 2 year maintenance extension for $500 or just get a whole new printer for backup.....

I just ordered one today. A friend that was helping me with the decision about starting some in-house printing alerted me to this deal. I called Mike, ordered the printer and it should be here on Friday. By the way, they also have a deal on a full set of cartridges to go along with the printer. All delivered free.

For what I need, this is overkill... but the economics are such that is was not something I wanted to pass up.

For current owners, it is a no-brainer. Your very own parts locker to keep the printer going. It is cheaper to buy the extra printer than to buy new print heads... and you get all the rest, inks, a new roll feeder, etc. tossed in.

Personally with all the bad press this printer has received I would not be interested if they were giving them away with a fill up at the corner gas station.

Don't believe everything you read! It's a great printer, does not have all the clogs and black swapping issues, but most of all it produces a wonderful print...

This the best possible value for a medium format printer .

I would not hesitate getting one if I did not have it.

If I didn't own the iPF5000, I would pick one up at this price. Note that I have been quite critical of Canon (and justifiably so, in my opinion), but the fact remains that I just leave a roll of Epson Premium Luster loaded and print whenever I want without ever doing a nozzle check. Sure beats doing nozzle checks, running cleaning cycles, etc. on the Epson 7800/9800 and the ability to print on roll papers with auto cut is great (not to mention panoramas).

The ipf5000 deal sounds pretty good. However, one concern I have is with the continued availability of ink. Does Canon have to continue producing ink for the printer for a specified length of time even though the printer is no longer in production? And, if so, how long must Canon provide the ink?

I'm sure they like Epson will continue to support the ink for a long period of time. As a matter of fact probably 5-10 years or more as all other manufacturers do.

$899.00 ...... WOW. What a deal for a great printer. We have had one for a year & my partner can,t live without it. I think they have improved some of the black inks in the iPF5100.

I love to whine about Canon's behavior too, but as others have said, this printer makes beautiful prints and I've never once done a nozzle check.

The iPF5000 is my first ink jet photo printer and I was worried about head clogs because I live in a dry climate. But I have not had even a hint of any sort of clogging.

I just fire it up and print when I feel like it and sometimes it'll sit for weeks without being used.

I might have to pick another one up at this price just to have spare everything. What a deal.

IT Supplies has a great deal at $899. But if you check out their website, it gets even better! For $1375 you get the printer, RFU, free shipping, plus a full set of replacement carts, which retail for $900, and are discounted only mimimally by some suppliers. All is factory fresh, warrenteed, with OEM carts.

For those owners considering a backup unit, this gives you a total of 220 ml of ink in each color (90 ml starter carts + 130 ml replacement carts) with a prorated retail value of $1523 for the ink alone. And you'll have a second RFU spindle to keep a second paper loaded on (retail $120 at IT Sup.) plus the totally "free" insurance policy of the new hardware with the $1200 heads.

I'm ordering a second unit from Color HQ, who have agreed to almost match the IT Sup. price, with an equivalent reduction on a custom paper profile, as I bought my original unit from them.

$1099 for the printer w/ RFU and $1499 for printer + RFU + complete set of 130ml inks.

Um, it still shows $1375 for the whole deal on the website... printer, roll feed, extra set of ink and free delivery. That was what I paid on Monday anyway.

Ya I Think that the IT Guy at IT made a Mistake.. Or something ..

Any Dealer Thats at The Top Level should be able to do it at 1099..

On both my computers it shows at $1099 & $1499... I'm guessing maybe you haven't cleared cache? Or maybe there is some bug in FF that's showing me inflated prices :-)

Anyone else seeing $1499 for the printer + RFU + 12 130ml inks or is it just me?
