Has anyone had "satisfactory" experience prinitng with PK on any Matte papers?  The reason I ask is I have a realatively good deal on a 4800, but I'm obviously aware of the PK/MK ink conversion fiasco.  I generally print on the Luster surfaces, but in the event that I need to print on matte, I'd be interested in knowing what the outcome would be if I used the PK.  Most of my work would be in color.  Thanks!

You can print on matte with PK. In general the DMax will be 0.3 lower. At best with MK it's around 1.6 so a drop of this magnitude is significant. If you have midrange images with very little black or deep colours you may produce satisfactory prints. Otherwise you will not. With lustre paper and 800 series PK ink you can produce excelent prints. If your matte throughput is small, in practice you will probably get away with PK. If you are selling prints, bite the bullit and change inks. The first print should should well cover the cost.
With new printers aboutt roll out there will be quite a few cheap 800 printers on offer despite the ink change hassle.
Cheers,
