Short support
« on: July 22, 2007, 12:43:04 pm »

There has been lots of advice and recommendations for full sized tripods but what to do when there is not room to use one.

Up until recently, I have been using The Pod for situations where I can't use a tripod. It lets me use any convenient surface to support my camera. Like a captive beanbag, it molds itself to just about any surface shape, giving me steady support for slow shutter speed shots. Great for evening and night street photography when crowds preclude the use of a tripod.

My new camera is a bit heavier and the weight is not centered over the tripod screw so the whole thing tends to flop over when attached to The Pod. I have the one with the red base.

What would be the best replacement I could use that has the ease of use of The Pod but a bit more stability for larger cameras?

Has anyone tried using any other fill material (other than the original plastic beads) inside one of them and does it change the behavior of the support?
