Lenses for AFI, Hy6
« on: July 20, 2007, 01:58:50 pm »

With all the wonderful new bodies coming up does anybody heard anything from Schneider or ( Zeiss ? ) about any new AF lenses in the plans. Current selection is way too limited to be consider full auto focus system.  50/80/180 Schneider's are very nice assuming that AF is going to work better that it did on 6008AF but one would love to have the 110/2.0 Zeiss which in my humble opinion is the best lens in this system. How about the 40mm the 120mm, the amazing 90mm ?

Having Zeiss involved would be wonderful for all sides in this project and could really lead it way ahead from Hassy/Fuji offerings.

Nobody knows anything or is it that nobody cares for AFI, Hy6 lenses? or maybe I missed the thread discussing it previously?

Some new lenses have been announced several times. I can't remember which ones exactly but you should find them with a search.

• AFD Xenotar 2.8/80 PQS
• AFD Super-Angulon 2.8/50 HFT PQS
• AFD Tele-Xenar 4/150 HFT-PQS
• AFD Tele-Xenar 2.8/180 PQ
• AFD Variogon 4.6/60-140 PQS

Followed by a 35mm and a 120mm

This should be a nice basic range with more to come later...

andre...as far as i know the 110 is a schneider, not a zeiss lens....and from my experience the schneider lenses are far superior then then the zeiss lenses...a direct comparison between the 40 zeiss and the 40 schneider is just a blow out....i had them both...the schneider is faster, smaller and has much better sharpness, contrast, color.....the schneider lenses would be a reason to switch to the Hy6 and dump the phase.....but not quite...yet...

the new lenses will be built by jena optic? i am very interested....the first lens i loved was a 180/2? jena for practika.....hmmmm

It will be hard to say the quality between Zeiss and Schneider, they are all considered the very best, each perhaps have range of lens better and worse than the other. The advantage of Hy6 is that similar to Mamiya, it is the system that successfully bridge the old lens collection to be direclty useful on a modern, latest platform. Even witthout the AFD version of lenses, there is already considered the largest lens system for medium format that most of them will be quite useful on the Hy6.

Rollei 110mm 2.0 is a Zeiss. It is the best drawing lens I ever used for portraits.
I used Rollei system for few years and this lens was almost never leaving my camera.
I finally sold all my Rollei staff a year ago but I still keep the 110mm. Just to pretty to let her go(LOL!)

Practica? Good old times. My Pentacon6 with Jena's Zeiss Sonnar is still waiting to be attached to the new Aptus.

Thierry + Yair,
It would be great if the new 120mm Makro could be a tilt+shift and APO to differentiate it from Hasselblad; and wouldn't the 35mm wide angle be great also with 10mm rise/shift capability?

I wonder why they bother making it AF.
I would be very happy if it was non-AF.

Now if only someone would come out with an adapter for Phase backs. I wouldn't even care if it only had limited electronic connectivity - how hard can it be to simply pass wakeup and sync signals to a Phase back.

The AF Flektogon 35mm will not be made with rise or shift capability.

....cover the full 6x6 frame, so it will make an awesome wide angle with film.

THis seems a real shame because on '645' sensors there is loads of room for shift with that circle

maybe there could be a sliding back adapter where the back is dropped or risen instead (!)
