Hasselblad V Tilt & Shift lenses
« on: July 19, 2007, 11:48:27 am »

Hello, all

I have been using a Sinar-M with an AF module and AF lenses for a month now. I used the system for copying work and occasional landscape shots. I own a Sinarback eMotion 75. The Sinar-M AF Module supports the Hasselblad-V mount and I can use all V-series lenses alongside my special AF lenses. I would like to work with a tilt and shift lenses on this camera.

I tried to google the t&s lenses for Hasselblad mount and failed. Hartblei  offers a line of Zeiss "prototypes" in every MF mount but V.http://www.hartblei.eu/en/sr120m.htm Those look like my AF Sinar lenses.  Does anybody knows any T&S lens in V-mount (current or old)?

I was intrigued with the recent discussion on Silvestri FLEXICAM. It looks less intimidating and smaller than Sinar P3 with the wide angle bag on. (I am trying to find excuse for not  buying a P3)
http://www.silvestricamera.it/eng/news_eng/news.htm

I am wondering is there an option to Use Sinar-M as a shutter with a wide CAB lens on a smaller base than the P3 system with Tilt and Shift/Rise . Is there a way to adapt CAB lenses to a Sinar -M without the P3-P2 camera?

I hope all this do not sound too insane.

Thanks,
Yevgeny

By all accounts (secondhand) this set of lenses-40,80,and 120mm never made it into
production.
Prototypes were shown at PhotoKina last fall with tentative pricing suggesting something
in the $6000-$8000 range.

Probably not enough interest,at that pricepoint to pursue the project

I was also under the impression that the set was to be designed for use on 35mm systems

Dear Yevgeny,

I understand that you find the Silvestri Flexicam less intimidating than the Sinar p3: they are not at all the same cameras for the same purposes. The Sinar p3 was designed for studio work, a re-design from the p2, smaller, a bit lighter, but with the same gears and movement possibilities.
The Flexicam is designed for location work, essentially.

If you want to compare, then you should have a look o the Sinar f3, the re-designed model for digital from the  Sinar f2 4x5" field camera.

About CAB lenses: no, these lenses cannot be used without the Sinar p3, directly on the Sinar m.

Best regards,
Thierry

Dear Mark,
Thank you. My fault , I did not realized that the Zeiss  lenses should have been optimized for 645 ( such as Sinar-M) and with shift will not cover my 33 mpx. sensor.
I am not surprised with the price, the Sinar AF lenses are very expensive!

Dear Thierry,
Thank you, very helpful as usual.

I understand that Sinar markets F3  as a sort of a field camera and it is impossible to use the F3 with the Sinar-M and without a sliding adapter.
Sinar recommends p3 for Sinar-M users. Than again a question, what is the P3 camera? I guess that a lens board with a lens, a bellow , a rear standard (or a Sinar-m shutter without Quick Clamping Adapter m) and an electronic interface from lenses to a gidiback constitute a camera. The rest, under the camera, is the mechanics to support the camera and provide the movements. If I have the standards, the lens (+shutter) and the back I have a camera. Sinar-m on a p3 is a smart system for studio work, I just wanted to explore options  to find or to build an outdoor t&s camera on the base of my Sinar-m. I understand the limitations, but I remember that there were several photo systems with bellows between lenses and film.
Sinar -M is a modular camera and IMO my idea of a short bellow between the Sinar-m and the lens is not so crazy. CAB lenses and the sinarback will be connected thru the Sinar-m.
I am not a pro with a lot of everyday experience, but I am fond of shooting landscapes on 54 and 13x18 film and I think that sometimes some tilt could be useful. I use an ALPA SWA with shifts, and if I need sharper foreground I blend two images.  That is why I asked the question: how to tilt outdoors?

Kind regards,
Yevgeny

Today I talked to several people at Kiev Arsenal Optical Plant
http://www.zavodarsenal.kiev.ua/index.phtml?lan=e&id=_2_2
They manufactured the "Ukranian" line of T&S lenses for Hartblei.
The idea was to order a hasselblad V mount Tilt & Shift lens directly at the plant.
No Luck.
It looks like they terminated all manufacturing of their "Civilian lenses" and Kiev
cameras and have no plans for further development. They still store some optical elements and some Kiev cameras and parts. And they assembled  the last batch of MF lens 3 years ago...Sad.
They blamed the rise of Digital and demise  of demand abroad.
I did not contact Hartblei yet.

Privjet Yevgeny and Hallo anybody from Munich

On behalf of Hartblei Optica I invite anybody to take a look at our website www.hartblei.de or www.hartblei.eu . The site is fully available in german, english and soon in french also.

We do produce lenses in Kiev, directly at Hartblei, we have already several dealers in Europe, you can order the new Zeiss productline directly from our website, but as it is, we already have a heavy backlog because we got so many orders that we really were surprised and flattened.

So this Autumn we will raise our output with the help of Carl Zeiss, we will supply enough lenses for anybody who wants them.

We have heavily improved Quality, there will be some tests in german magazines soon and as much as I heard the press liked our product......

Hartblei optica has the goal to put Zeiss quality to all digital 35mm Kameras,( so excuse me for my reply in this part of the fora, but some of our Customers use Sinarbacks with our lenses already ) set a new standard for ruggedness and usability and establish the new hartblei as a premium maker of highend lenses. We start small and careful in Europe, next will be USA, then Japan and the rest of the world.

Do I sound crazy ? maybe.....   but soon many people will be quite astonished about what will happen.

And once again, many thanks to Michael Reichmann, we have put him on our website as a reference statement.

Come in and take a look

Greetings from Munich

Stefan Steib - CEO Hartblei Optica
