About ZD back - only with body?
« on: July 13, 2007, 06:41:19 pm »

I was told that the ZD back would come only with the 645 body and 80mm, at least in Canada...
What about the other place?

David - Just did a quick search of B&H as well as Adorame websites.  No joy on B&H however on Adorama I found them selling the ZD back as a kit on a 645 AFD II w/lens for $9,999 and they are also offering just the back for $6,999.

Hope this helps

I've also been told by a dealer they will be available sans body in the states.

Now, if Mamiya would only start shipping them....

there is too much mam 645 in circulation not to sell the back alone.
It's available now in Canada with a body and lens.

Go to Adorama's website they're selling both the kit and back by itself.

Thanks Don, but on Adorama's site the back only is "when available" and also no adapter listed for the RZ.

At least we're getting closer!

Sorry, I missed that note.  It does say they expect to see them the end of July.  Good news for 645 AFD owners at least.

this is very tempting.  i wish Canon would now release their update to the 1Ds MkII so I can compare and decide which system I want to buy.  the Canon system will undoubtedly be cheaper but the image quality of the ZD is very tempting!!

Holy moly, the RZ adapter is actually listed now at Adorama:

http://www.adorama.com/MYDBARZ.html?search...%20zd&item_no=3

The price is way lower than I thought.

As a side note on the adapter, I think there is one user on this forum who is using the Mamiya adapter with a Phase One Mamiya 645AFD mount back and it supposedly works perfectly.

I was hoping mamiya would package a rz67 kit with this back. If i want to do landscapes i have to lay the 645 over 90 degrees on the tripod and that would be a PITA. I have never held a 645 in my hands so I have no idea if my statement is correct.

well it's not like you can't order a proII D body and a back at the same time. it's roughly the same price as the 645afd kit

I just called Adorama.  As I suspected  they do not have the 645ZD in stock.  They have them "on order".  I was told to call Mamiya and see what they say by the Adorama rep.

Just spoke to Calumet and I was told to expect the ZD back in the next three weeks. I was also told there's been some recent firmware and battery tweaking to improve operation.

Mamiya has the opportunity to make a sale with me for the next month. If they drag their heels any longer I'll be forced to go in a different direction.
