I've said this to Michael, so I'm not trying to ingratiate myself. The opening of the Luminous Lightroom Gallery was a "coming of age" for photography in Toronto. Now that he has announced the speakers in his seminar series, I believe he will make our city a real nexus for photography. For Toronto-based hobbyists, such as myself, it offers a relatively cheap way to access experts and to hone our skills. Three cheers to you, Michael.

This series of seminars looks fabulous. If I lived anywhere near Toronto, I'd gladly attend any one of them. I have a question though. Is Toronto on the east coast of some river? It's not even on the east coast of Lake Ontario. I think it's over 500 miles to any point on the east coast from Toronto, unless there's been a global warming event that I missed.  If Michael ever considers holding a west coast seminar series, I hear Calgary is very nice.

John

PS. I'm just kiddin' around. Please don't anyone get upset at me for pickin' on Michael.

I hope you're kidding about your sad lack of knowledge of Canadian geography. Just Google Earth Toronto and you'll see it's at the centre of the universe.

Compared to Vancouver, it's East Coast.

I attended Jay Maysel's workshop in Vancouver last year, and would recommend his class and style to anyone... a great photographer as well as teacher.  Not that he needs my recommendation in particular, but I still go through the notes that I took during the workshop and they mean a lot to me.

Very tempted to fly over and do the printing workshop.

Totally fallacious and libelous!

It is a well-known fact that Boston is the "Hub of the Universe." Of course, if you look at any moving wheel, you'll see that the hub is the slowest moving part.

Do wish I could be in Toronto for all the fun. Toronto is somewhere West of Dedham, isn't it?

People in Vancouver think that Calgary is too far east, so that might not be saying much.

I'm counting my nickles and dimes and seeing if I can make it in from Ottawa... Acton may not be worth the drive, but these seminars look like they will be. (bad Acton related jokes will make sense to epople in south western Ontario... my apologies to others.)
