P45+ Review
« on: July 09, 2007, 05:50:55 pm »

Michael, thanks for the P45+ review. I'm still waiting on mine, and am forced to use the "lowly" P45 in the meantime. I have one question. The one quibble I have with the P45 is the number of stops between midtone and maxed-out highlights. I'm seeing only about 2 and 1/3 stops between midtone and max highlights, which seems a little restrictive (Canon bodies are delivering in excess of three stops between midtone and blown highlights, according to DPReview). Are you seeing any more highlight lattitude (or dynamic range) on the P45+? Obviously the total dynamic range of the P45 (and P45+) is huge, but with such limited highlight latitude, you are forced to expose for the highlights and pull up the midtones in too many situations

Regards,
Hans.

I really can't give you a definitive answer on this. I'm definitely seeing a broader dynamic range, but where it's localized is hard to pin down.
