Getting the right screen and the screen right
« on: July 09, 2007, 08:29:08 am »

The LL What's New page recently drew my attention to a piece by Rob Galbraith - Evaluating the MacBook Pro 15 inch LED-backlit display  - which got me worried.

Having decided last year to tool up for some serious photographic hobbying and maybe more, I bought a 17" MacBookPro - one of the first Intel dua core machines - and a 20" iMac, also dual core.  The MacBookPro is the one I mostly use for my digital workflow, with Lightroom and occasional Photoshop.

Recent batches of photos have included a lot more red than I usually shoot, and I've found (as RG mentions) that the MacbookPro screen makes them look really weird.  I was planning to sort out this and other colour issues by getting a calibration kit, but now I wonder whether the hardware can actually perform as required.
