His postings are being removed as quickly as possible.

Too bad the world is filled with idiots like this with nothing better to do than waste peoples time and cause harm.

now 'karmanat' is doing the same. There's no point in starting a new thread about each attack. They happen far too often. Just report and move on (as I just did).

On another forum we had so much trouble with these types we have started to manually activate user accounts.

There is a large group of persons mostly in the poorer countries of the world that get paid (cents) for placing these messages on popular forums.

Ignore them, report them that is it. Starting threads and having their posts in your replies is making matters worse. The person that needs to delete these messages has to delete the replies which have the link included in it as well.

Much as I hate to do it (and the extra work involved) because of these spam attacks we will be moving to validated registration.

Why not just run your mouse over the link and look at your status bar to see what you're about to click on?

I'd think by now we can all see what's junk in our e-mail and also what links are not safe to click on.

That would help when there would be only a couple of those message in a long time and if the only consequense of these messages would be a minor inconvenience. If you don't get rid of that user account very quickly you wake-up to find a couple of hundred of these messages all over your forum.

People get paid to open accounts on forums, these accounts are given to others that run 'post bots' that fully automatic sh*t all over your forum.

Besides that, when leaving those links up you also help these persons to achieve what they are after. Every external link helps to get a higher ranking in various search engines.

I also manage a forum (not photographically related) and I am using the validation.
No choice. Besieged by idiots.
It really stops them in their tracks, but it's more work.
Good luck administering it Michael.
