LR 1.1 upgrade destroyed catalog
« on: June 27, 2007, 04:07:22 pm »

I just upgraded to 1.1.  When I start it, LR says I have a total of ~700 images.  Before the upgrade, I had over 12,000 images cataloged.

Any hope here or am I totally screwed?

You're not screwed, because there is a backup of old LR catalog in the "backup" folder.  As to details re: getting things going properly, the Adobe LR forum is the best place to get help.

Actually, no there isn't.  It *said* it was doing a backup, but there's no backup file from today.  Luckily, I have a backup from last night.  I'm gonna try uninstalling 1.1 and reinstall 1.0

OK, a 1.0 reinstall got back my stuff.  Guess I'll wait until 1.2

What happens if you choose the option to test your 1.0 database for integrity in Lightroom 1.0? Does that flag up any problems? Hopefully that's enough to sort any problems out.

If you test for integrity, re-upgrade to 1.1 and things still don't work, I'd contact Adobe.

Mine took out my library the first time I tried to upgrade too, luckily, the backup did work for me.  Just keep trying.

If that happens, what do you do?

Is there a command "import library database", so you can actually get the backed-up copy into your system?

So far as I can tell, File -> Open Catalog in Lightroom 1.1 should open a Lightroom 1.0 database (which I presume will be converted to 1.1 when you do so).
