Exported JPGs too dark
« on: June 27, 2007, 12:07:46 pm »

When I export jpegs from Lightroom, the jpegs are quite a bit darker when opened in Photoshop. I'd say about half a stop darker than they were in LR.

I believe the effect is stronger with bw conversions. Is this normal? Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Do you have your color settings in Photoshop such they honor the embedded profiles? They should look identical (and do for me).

No special color settings. I use my standard calibrated monitor profile. But my LR color space is AdobeRGB and I'm exporting to sRGB. Maybe that's it?

The color appearance of dissimilar color spaces should look the same if you're not stripping out the profiles. Something like that is going on. Be sure in Photshop you do NOT have the policies set to OFF.

Thanks, Andrew. Policies are all set to "Preserved embedded..."

I'll keep looking. It's definitely PS, though. When I import the jpg back into LR, it looks exactly like the LR version. Hmmm.
