I use a Sony Artisan monitor that is 3 or 4 years old with the Windows XP operating system. I have never experienced any problems until now. I have done some research and found there is a documented bug in the Artisan calibration software that may appear as the monitor ages. The symptoms are failure to calibrate because the calibration routine restarts part way through and does not finish. In my case, the calibration routine gets 5/8 of the way through, and then goes back to 2/8 and repeats. I have reinstalled all of the drivers, reinstalled the Artisan software, and restarted, to no avail.
Karl Lang, the developer of the Artisan calibration software, has posted a patch for this bug on his web site,
www.lumita.com, but the patch is developed for use on Macs only. Although Karl states on his site that there is no reason the patch shouldn’t work on Windows, he does not include a method for Windows users to utilize the patch. I cannot even get it to open in Windows.
I'm guessing there will be many folks in my predicament, since all of our Artisans are aging, and are no longer supported by Sony. Are there any forum members out there with the expertise to get Karl’s patch to work with Windows?
Thanks for any help anyone can offer.
John
