Hi.

Can you rotate your DB when using Mamiya Digital Back Adapter HX701 on Mamiya RZ IID?

What is the difference between PhaseOne 645 adapterplate or Mamiya Digital Back Adapter HX701 to Mamiya RZ IID?

i have mentioned this several times here before....but here we go again: the mamiya plate is not tested with phase backs...it should work, it might work, but it is not tested...yet....this is the info i got from mamiya usa (mac usa?)....the phase plate works perfectly, rotates the back, no cable, blablabla....

as far as i know the mamiya plate is a bit cheaper, but since it is untested and not returnable....well i guess anyone is welcome to be the first to test it....it is made for leaf backs and there are some little pieces that might be in the way.....all this is from a mamiya technician.....

if you have a phase back, there is really no reason to not go with the phase plate......

the only problem is that the plate drains the little camera battery (even if the back is not attached) if it is not switched off after use...a bit annoying....i tend to never switch my cameras off...but not really a problem.....
also: you cannot outshoot the back, you cannot fire if the back isn't switched on or ready.....

hope that helps, PM me if you have any questions about this....

i am just into day three with my test run of a p30+ woth both am mamiya 645 and a RZIID  with the mamiya plate. no problems with rotation, no cables needed, just one single glitch where i had to switch off the back once as it froze.

not eonough time to test wether the battery is draining

so you got the mamiya plate? not sure if it has the drain problem as well....i have not had a freeze with the phase adapter...yet...in 5? months....works flawlessly....no cables either....
do you know if your mamiya plate works on the RZ as well? maybe with cables?
i have the RZIID as well and i don't know if the phase plate works on the regular RZ (maybe with cable?)

glad to hear that the mamiya plate works with the phase backs....

i was told that that it only works with the rzIID. i thought of getting a rz off ebay as a backup, if I should go the rz route (not shure yet), but the rep told me i would need a different plate, though i am not 100% convinced he was right.

That's good to hear that the Mamiya plate is working with your Phase back.  I hadn't really heard anything about the Mamiya adapter, until now.
