Epson R1800 Printer Driver v6.5aAs
« on: June 22, 2007, 02:19:10 pm »

UPDATED - see bottom

Dear Epson users,
Has anyone with a USB connection, rather than firewire, installed the driver update listed below for the R1800 printer, and could you tell me what differences you found in your ink monitoring and anything else from the software status monitor? I am using firewire and as per the Epson directions, this update is not compatible with firewire. If the driver update is significant, I will consider re-installing with USB. I have downloaded the icc latest profiles, but this is a printer driver update. (I also own the Epson 3800 model, with USB, and an Epson dye printer with USB) . I'd like to know what the new driver offers with the USB required-see below.
Please advise, thank you, Debra
Epson R1800 Printer driver update, quoted from Epson site:
"Printer Driver v6.5aAs
Windows Vista 32-bit Edition, Windows XP, Windows 2000
epson12206.exe - 12.4MB - posted on 02/26/07
This self-extracting file contains the Epson Stylus Photo R1800 Printer Driver for Windows XP, 2000 and Vista 32-bit Edition (Printer Driver v6.5aAs, Core Driver Disk v6.50). The Epson Status Monitor 3 is incorporated into this driver. This file self-extracts to your hard drive and is placed in a folder that begins with C:\epson\epson12206...
This driver is not compatible with Firewire connections. "

UPDATE 06/23/07: A friend advised that Epson has just posted a driver update which is dated 06/21/07 for the R1800 and this update includes firewire. Question now answered. I have downloaded the update and the Epson Status Monitor 3 is indeed updated with firewire.
