Issues changing OS?
« on: June 16, 2007, 06:38:39 pm »

Will LR running on a MacPro be able to read LR databased created while I was using a PC?  I admit total ignorance of Apple computers and their operating systems.

Also, any other change tips will be greatly appreciated...even reasons not to change.

Yes. Haven't tried myself but as far as I know, the mac version of Lightroom will read all the information on the database, regardless of the OS. So if you have your pictures and Library on an external drive, it should read it without problems once you plug it to the new mac.

Some vendors charge a nominal fee to provide a replacement version of the other OS's version.

Adobe Photoshop was less than $10 as I recall. Just a few hoops to run through.

Some don't charge - Noise Ninja.

Others charge the full fee - PK.

I did the same as you're proposing. Its a walk in the park with Boot Camp now.

Thanks.  Forgot about the potential software charges.

There are no charges...Lightroom license allows you to use it in 2 computers and it can be one PC and one Mac
