Z3100 and ethernet
« on: June 13, 2007, 09:53:20 pm »

OK I'm sure this is a simple question and answer but I can't seem to figure it out.

I have my Z3100 connected via an Ethernet connection and I can print from it perfectly except when I allow the printer to go to sleep. After I awaken the printer ( from red power light mode)  I have to reboot the computer to get it to allow the computer to print a file. Any ideas? I'm on Windows XP Pro.

Thanks!

You can try if I remeber right, WAL Wake on Lan pings. Dial in the IP address in a browser and set it in the TCP/IP settings. I think there are some settings on the front panel too but it's best in the browser.

Had same problem on the mac OSX. Went to printer web address which access printer over the network. Under "setup" look at far right side of screen and click on "networking" button. Another screen pops up with all the network setting. Selected IP Configuration Method "manual" and typed in the last IP address I had on the printer (should be same one you have always had). Basically, once you have connected to printer copy down the info and go in and choose manual and plug in same info. I also had to turn off the check box at bottom of the page "Send DHCP requests if IP address is Auto IP..."
Again this is all on my mac so don't know if the web info even looks/is the same.

HP support gave me most of this info and it worked for awhile, I figured out the manual address thing. Call HP, they are pretty easy to get ahold of: 1-800-474-6836

Good luck.

Yes it is the same for Mac PC or other.
There is a lot of configuration possible that goes well beyond average users ability, especially mine.....
