I just bought a canon 5D with two lenses 28-90mm and 90-300mm, which are very sheap lenses. I want to improve the quality of my images. most i do is night shots for social events and parties for a local magazine. any body can help the right lense for this camera and what i do.

Canon 24-70 2.8 L and the 70-200 2.8 IS L lenses. They are great!

Those are pretty similar to what you are using but much finer I would assume. It seems as though those two lenses are very popular with amateur photographers with money to spend. I have both and appreciate them, but have not compared them to faster, prime lenses which you might need for (indoor) parties and (handheld) night photography. Perhaps the 35mm?

For parties and events I would be using the 24-70mm if I could find one that focused properly along with a two primes, the Canon 35mm f1.4 and the 85mm f1.2.

The 24-105 f4 IS is a sharper lens and users experience far fewer problems with this lens than the Canon 24-70mm f2.8 lens. Another option is the Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 lens.

when you said use the Canon 35mm f1.4 and the 85mm f1.2. thats mean i can use those lense with cannon 5D OR 35 mm?. got confused.

You can use both with both. Any EF lens will work on any Canon (after the FD mount). The only lenses that won't work for you are the Ef-s range.

I would like to point out that there are much cheaper 35mm and 85mm lenses for Canon EF that are supposed to be close to as good as the top, professional lenses. You might want to try those to see if you like those focal lengths. The 85mm f/1.8 has very high reviews and you can buy 6 of them for the cost of an 85mm f/1.2.
