Seeking ideas to depict TIME
« on: June 07, 2007, 03:21:47 am »

Hi All,

I am doing a commercial assignment for a watch company, and would like some ideas on how to depict time in a photograph. The Art Director is not very creative (my opinion...of course, I would imagine the client thinks otherwise)..and frankly neither am I.

Need ideas. Thanks.

Hmm - you want to pick our brains for free?

Why not trawl through some online stock agencies and see what you can pick up there to copy from? I do have some ideas - but wish to keep them to myself for future exploitation!

Pretend you're Dali and shoot watches melting over something. Alternately create a timeless image,  or a frozen moment.

more seriously, I would play with time and e-m-i-t, like emission, reflections around the present.

Cheers,
Bernard

Depends on what you're trying to say.  If you want to say that the watch is 'timeless' or 'stands the test of time', then make a collage of different periods or a series of generations of family members wearing the same watch...

My 2 bits worth...

You need to go back to the company and find out what their brand values and customer value proposition are. If they don't have any then they need to go back and think how they want to communicate with the customer before they start putting together any creatives. Once those elements are in place then the creative director should be able to give a much better steer as to what they want to achieve and creativity becomes a much easier process. At the moment you have too broad a scope and no indication of what or who you are trying to target your communication/ image towards.
